Overview

Lake Eyasi is about people rather than wildlife. Spend a morning with the Hadzabe, one of Africa’s last hunter-gatherer communities, then visit Datoga blacksmiths and onion farms along the lake.

Lake Eyasi is a seasonal soda lake south of the Ngorongoro highlands. It is home to the Hadzabe, one of Africa’s last hunter-gatherer communities, and to Datoga pastoralists known for their metalwork.

A visit is about people rather than wildlife: an early morning walk with Hadzabe hunters, and time with Datoga families and their blacksmiths. We arrange visits respectfully, with local guides from the communities.
