Overview

Rubondo is a peaceful island park, easy to combine with the western Serengeti. Explore by boat and on foot, looking for chimpanzees, sitatunga antelope and fish eagles.

Rubondo is a forested island national park in Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. Chimpanzees were released here in the 1960s and their descendants now live wild in the forest.

The island is also home to sitatunga antelope, hippos, crocodiles and a large fish eagle population. With only one lodge, it feels completely remote, and it fits well after a Serengeti safari.
