Overview

The “Big Five” were once the animals hardest to hunt on foot; today they are the ones most visitors hope to photograph. Rhinos are the rarest, which is why the Ngorongoro Crater, home to a protected black rhino population, is at the heart of most Big Five itineraries.

We combine the crater with the Serengeti for leopards and big lion prides, and Tarangire for elephants, to give you the best chance of seeing all five.

Highlights

  • Black rhino in the Ngorongoro Crater
  • Leopards in the Serengeti’s Seronera valley
  • Elephant herds in Tarangire
  • Guides who track sightings each day
