Kibale Forest National Park

“a magnificent tropical rain forest”

Thirty-five kilometers south of Fort Portal is the Kibale Forest National Park, a tropical rain forest home to the highest diversity and concentration of primates in Africa. The possibility of chimpanzee trekking makes Kibale Forest an exciting place to visit. Visitors to this green verdant park can expect to see, hear, and even smell our closest living relatives in close proximity as they race through the trees overhead.

The park is also home to a wide range of primate wildlife – there are another 12 primate species – and you can even spot hippos and forest elephants. A huge variety of birdlife, more than 370 species call the park home. A magnificent location for eco-tourism, the forest is an ideal destination for any traveler wishing to get close to nature.
